New kung-fu brawler trailer Sifu demonstrates a nightclub brawl.

Authentic martial arts fighting is difficult to achieve in a video game, but the creators of Absolver may be among the few who can pull it off. And we get a longer look at some of the wicked ways you may punch, kick, and otherwise injure your opponents in a teaser for their next kung fu game, Sifu.

Sifu was initially teased in February, but we haven’t seen much of it until now, with this teaser debuting at IGN’s Summer of Gaming event. It instantly resembles the aesthetic of its spiritual forefather, Absolver, although it isn’t situated in a whimsical fantasy environment and is also only available in single-player mode. The trailer, like any good kung fu film, is devoid of exposition. It kicks the ass right away.

The teaser, which is set in a nightclub, provides us a clear look at all of the choices available to players when battling. As you might expect, there is a strong emphasis on utilizing the surroundings to your advantage. Players can bash their heads against walls and counters to get an advantage, but they may also seize weapons to earn an edge. That may not seem particularly original on paper, so you should simply watch the clip above because everything appears to be rather sleek.

Sifu will be released this fall.
