If you’re anything like me, you’re trying not to freak out while you wait for Forza Horizon 5. It’s been a little over a month. In the meanwhile, we may look at the Forza Horizon 5 recommended specifications, which were revealed today.
Before you can even play Forza Horizon 5, you must first install it. To do so, you’ll need at least 110GB of free space on a hard drive or, better yet, an SSD.
To start your tires spinning, you’ll need to meet the minimum GPU requirements for Forza Horizon 5: an AMD Radeon RX 470 or an Nvidia GeForce GTX 970. Both of these cards had enormous reach in their day, which was a long time ago, so hopefully, neither proves too difficult for would-be racers.
The optimum requirement is also not particularly current, necessitating either a Radeon RX 590 or a GeForce GTX 1070 or above. That means the extremely popular GeForce GTX 1060 doesn’t quite make the cut for recommended,’ but it is well above the minimum spec and should play the game without issue.
To hit the ideal spec you’ll need either a Radeon RX 6800 XT or GeForce RTX 3080.
No real surprises there, then—big, powerful GPU is best. That said, there are promising signs for gaming at 1080p with a modicum of performance with either Polaris or Pascal graphics cards on your PC.

Moving on to the CPU, you’ll need at least an AMD Ryzen 3 1200 or an Intel Core i5 4460, which are both four-core processors. The majority of newer processors are unlikely to have any issues, as almost any Ryzen/Core chip released since 2017 will have at least that many cores (if not many more) and significantly faster clock speeds/architectures.
The ideal spec is a little beefier: a four-core, eight-thread Ryzen 5 1500X or a six-core, six-thread Core i5 8400.
And, for the ultimate specification, two last-generation AMD and Intel chips: the often-overlooked Ryzen 7 3800XT and the Core i7 10700K.
But there’s more to chew on in the latest Forza Horizon 5 blog post. To begin, ultrawide fans will be happy to learn that the game will allow you to enjoy Mexico’s splendor in a 21:9 aspect ratio. Second, most racing wheels are fair game.
To top it all off, there’s the promise of extensive cross-platform haptic feedback support for the Xbox Wireless Controller. PC, too. And even the PC edition of Forza Horizon 5 via Steam. Bring it, November 9th.
