Aragami 2, the hit indie ninja game sequel set for September release

Aragami is a third-person stealth game about an undead assassin who can become invisible, move through shadows, and summon weapons (even a Shadow Dragon!) in order to save the enigmatic girl Yamiko from Kaiho, the Army of Light. Five years after its first release in 2016, developer Lince Works has announced that a sequel, Aragami 2, would be released in September.

The Akatsuchi Empire is seeking to conquer and destroy the Rashomon Valley in Aragami 2. The complete narrative will be playable solo or in co-op for up to three players, with “improved” stealth mechanics and a new combat system that the makers claim favors a strategic approach to battling.

“We’ve grown a lot since working on the original game, and as a larger studio, we have the ability to achieve all of Aragami’s full potential with this sequel,” said Lince Works game director David León. “One of the things we are most thrilled about in Aragami 2 is the new combat system, which not only provides existing fans a new way to play but also welcomes new players with a more intense gaming experience.”

That remains to be seen—Lince Works stated that further information on Aragami 2 would be disclosed “very soon”—but it sure looks great, which counts for a lot in a sleek stealth game about cursed ninjas and demonic warriors. Aragami 2 will be released on September 17 and is currently available for pre-order on Steam. More information may be found at linceworks.com.
