Crytek has announced that Crysis 2 and 3 would be remastered later this year, after the remastering of the initial Crysis game.
The two remastered sequels will be available separately or as part of an all-in-one package with the original Crysis Remastered. The first remaster arrived on PC in September, with some great ray-tracing and a tongue-in-cheek ‘Can it run Crysis’ mode—though happily, the usual visual settings weren’t as system-melting as the original game. The remaster oddly missed a few features from the original, however, elements like leaning and a quick throw key for grenades were subsequently brought back in.
Earlier this month, the Crysis Twitter account teased—and then practically confirmed—a remastered Crysis 2, merely sending out the sentence “they used to call me Prophet.” It was then followed with some extremely remastered screenshots, thereby converting the tease into a full-fledged announcement.
Crytek has been somewhat quiet about a Crysis 3 remaster, so it’s good to see the complete trilogy redone. Evan gave Crysis 2 and 3 pretty high marks when he reviewed them a long time ago—Crysis 2 received an impressive 89, while Crysis 3 received a little lower but still decent 81.
Crysis 2 and Crysis 3 remasters will be released on PC in “Fall 2021.” Given Crysis Remastered’s Epic Games Store exclusivity, it is probable that Crysis 2 and 3 Remastered will be available there as well.
