I didn’t think I’d be telling you that the new Evil Dead official videogame looks really excellent, but here we are. During the Summer Game Fest start webcast, Saber Interactive presented a new trailer for the co-op zombie killer, which you can see below.
If you’ve played a lot of Left 4 Dead or are looking forward to Back 4 Blood, Evil Dead: The Game may appear familiar, but there are several important changes that stick out. For starters, the game is in third person and may have a competitive element. Surprisingly, it appears to be melee-focused as well (though we did spot some shooting in there as well). There are some extremely gruesome melee killings on show here, which work very nicely in the ridiculous universe of Evil Dead.
Co-op appears to be the major option, and players will be able to interact with recognised characters from the movies, such as the one armoured man with a sword who appears to be in one of the movies I haven’t watched. You can also play as zombies, which seems like a lot of fun.
Evil Dead: The Game will be available on all consoles, PC, and even the Nintendo Switch.
