Klei, the company behind Don’t Starve, Mark of the Ninja, and Invisible Inc., holds a sale around this time every year. In 2021, it will transform that publisher sale into an event dubbed Klei Fest, which will celebrate all of its titles while providing discounts of up to 75%. Griftlands, a deckbuilding sci-fi roguelike, will leave Early Access on June 1 to kick off Klei Fest.
In Griftlands, you take on the role of one of three space scoundrels on a planet populated by slug-people and dog folk. Your aim is to live and profit in a world full of bounty hunters and mercenaries, and both conflicts and talks are played out like card games, each with a distinct deck.
Klei has shown to be one of the finest Early Access developers with titles such as Don’t Starve and Oxygen Not Included. Griftlands has been in Early Access since 2019, and Klei’s Kevin Forbes says, “Since then, we’ve introduced two extra player characters, dozens of new NPCs and monsters, and hundreds of more cards, all with the input of our community.”
During Klei Fest, Don’t Starve Together will host a limited-time event dubbed “Midsummer Cawnival!” “Our survivors will be met by the intriguing Corvus Goodfeather, who wants a little assistance arranging the celebrations for his crow colleagues,” Klei explains. A unique course will also be accessible in Hot Lava, pitting players against Lord Sludge for a prize that will be accessible just during the event.
The sale will begin on June 3rd.
