Happy’s Humble Burger Barn does not appear to be a happy burger joint.

You could have realised from the filth that this isn’t Cooking Mama: A new trailer for Happy’s Humble Burger Farm debuted today during the Guerrilla Collective webcast, highlighting the restaurant’s “quality control” method. Happy is the one who says it: A cow monster with two legs.

It’s not quite the misdirection found in Doki Doki Literature Club, but I always appreciate ominous twists in commonplace situations. This one maybe a little too Five Nights at Freddy’s for my tastes, but I do enjoy how the burger erupts with pixel-somethings when you add the top bun. Perhaps I just want a genuine PS1-style fast food game with no horror game twist?

Happy’s Humble Burger Farm has had a free “alpha” version on Steam for a while, but there’s also a listing for a full edition of the PS1-style fast food simulator—coming it’s “soon,” but we don’t know when.

If you want to give it a go, the alpha demo, which was published last October, is merely a 5GB download.

There’s also an itch.io version, which the developers claim was “developed in a little under a month.” The version of Happy’s Humble Burger Farm on Steam is advertised as a sequel to the version on itch.io, yet they’re both called Happy’s Humble Burger Farm.
