Hunt: Showdown now has a new, much drier rootin’ tootin’ terrain.
Crytek’s criminally underappreciated 2018 bayou royale has only seen two maps since its release, but this new map offers a slightly different flavor to the previous two swampy environments. There’s a lot to take in for a two-minute teaser, and it appears as Crytek tossed in a handful of little allusions to the new map’s direction.
Some of the places, such as the Reeves Quarry and Pearl Plantation, were teased earlier this week. The teaser shows a glimpse of the plantation as well as a quite opulent-looking residence. There’s also what appears to be a bar with a poker table and… a dead person.
The teaser also showed some new Native American hunters, and it appears that a bow is the newest weapon to be added to the armoury. Hunt already features crossbows, but this is the first time a good ol’ fashioned classic bow has appeared in the game. Native American hunters and bows have been in high demand since Hunt’s inception, so it’s great news all around.
Hunt: Showdown’s most recent significant update, 1.5, arrived approximately three months ago, bringing huge overhauls to the game’s UI, as well as a slew of custom munitions and solutions to some lingering difficulties.
It was all aimed to entice new players to try and continue with the game—many of the changes were centred on “player on-boarding” and making it “easier to learn about the purpose of each menu and the game in general.” Last month, the game also included skill-based matching in an attempt to make things more fair.
