The most recent patch notes for Call of Duty: Warzone Season 4 are now available, and they include the addition of a new limited-time event called Ground Fall, the Verdansk Resurgence Mini mode, Verdansk’s new “Red Doors” (rumored to be a new fast-travel system), eight new LGBTQIA+ Pride flag Calling Cards, and a dirt bike.
What’s most intriguing is that, behind all of this, Raven Software discloses what it’s planned for a future patch: “In a future patch, we will be implementing broad balancing adjustments to Weapons.” The notes continue to clarify, “Because certain Weapons are considerably more deadly than others in their class, we believe a decrease in the efficacy of those outliers is required. We anticipate that these improvements will increase the average Time to Kill by 60 to 100 milliseconds.”
Given that Warzone has a relatively low TTK when compared to other battle royale games like Apex Legends, if the average did rise by the maximum anticipated amount of 100 milliseconds, it would make a significant difference.
Raven intends to “begin laying the groundwork for the upcoming balance overhaul” with changes to 15 weapons, nerfing the CR-56 AMAX slightly and the Streetsweeper shotgun significantly—reducing its max damage range by 24 percent, second damage range by 18 percent, third damage range by 7 percent, and movement speed by 1 percent.
The Streetsweeper has one of the strongest K/D ratios in Warzone at close range, and even with these adjustments, it will remain lethal at close range, requiring players to utilize it more situationally.
“With greater mobility, increased Projectile Velocity, and more generous locational multipliers—allowing someone carrying the Ballistic Knife to come too near is a mistake you will only make once… or twice each game.”
