Monster Hunter Stories 2 will offer a demo on June 25, with progress carried over to the full game.

Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin won’t be available until July 9, but gamers will be able to get a head start with the trial version, which will be available on June 25. Even better, your progress in this preview will be carried over to the full game—though we don’t know how large the demo will be.

The free demo was announced during Capcom’s E3 2021 event, and it’s just one of the new details we’ve heard about Monster Hunter Stories 2. Before the announcement, Capcom unveiled a fresh new story trailer, which is the most in-depth look at the game so far, displaying pieces of the fighting system and, probably most significantly, the storyline.

You can see the video above, but the essence appears to be that you play Red, a hunter who has inherited a newborn Rathalos who is predicted to bring about some type of apocalypse. The capacity to build connections with creatures without killing and skinning them for fancy armor is a prominent topic in the plot. The other characters in the narrative don’t think it’s a good idea to be friends with monsters.

It’s essentially the story of Dreamworks’ How to Train Your Dragon, which I’m ok with because that movie is fantastic.
