Paralives appears to be every Sims player’s fantasy.

Paralives has been on our radar for quite some time: it’s an independent game that aspires to compete with the juggernaut that is The Sims. The Wholesome Games Direct provided us a good idea of what to anticipate when the game eventually comes out, and it appears to be the answer to every disappointed Simmer’s wishes.

The clip is brief, but it immediately conveys how much flexibility and flexibility Paralives intends to provide. Walls may be made as short or as long as you need them to be, and they may even be rounded for a smooth round appearance. Given that The Sims only allows you to build walls in (somewhat irritating) one-tile increments, the architectural options are already multiplying.

Windows and tables may also be pulled and pinched to within an inch of their lives, giving you extra options if you truly like a piece of decor but think it’s a bit too big or little for the area you’re creating. The film also shows off some fantastic sofa snapping (something The Sims has only just implemented), as well as different swatches for furniture and what appears to be the opportunity to create your own color palettes.

Building in The Sims isn’t a hassle, but it does have its oddities that require some getting accustomed to. The construction and decoration of Paralives seem to be much more streamlined than I had anticipated, particularly in terms of walls and platforms. The game appears to be coming along beautifully, and I’m looking forward to diving into it when it’s released. It remains to be seen if it can actually rival or even outperform The Sims on a global scale, but it appears to be taking a huge swing.

There is currently no release date for Paralives, although there is a lot going on on creator Alex Massé’s Patreon.
