Silt, an Abzu + Limbo brutal underwater adventure?

Silt, a game by Spiral Circus, will not calm your anxieties if you are afraid of the ocean and its murky depths. Quite the reverse, in fact. It’s an adventure game shown at this year’s PC Gaming Show that depicts an undersea environment teeming with deep-sea goliaths waiting to devour you.

You play as an anonymous diver who has descended into the depths to solve a long-forgotten mystery that has been dormant under the water’s surface—which isn’t at all gloomy.

You have the eerie power to possess little aquatic animals that may assist you in solving environmental problems and quickly traversing perilous locations to aid you in your mission.

According to the teaser, Silt’s environment is quite nasty, and you’ll die a lot, generally at the whim of something with jaws far bigger than you. Its monochromatic aesthetics and violent fatalities are reminiscent of Playdead’s Limbo, while Silt’s archaeological symbols are more reminiscent of Giant Squid’s considerably more peaceful journey, Abzu.

Silt is the debut title by Spiral Circus. The Bristol-based creators’ stated goal is to “bring strange art to life in games.” Silt appears to be capable of doing so, but we’ll have to wait until early 2022 to find out.
