Bill, Francis, Louis, and Zoey are returning—not in a new Left 4 Dead game, but in Zombie Army 4: Dead War, a third-person co-op zombie shooter published in 2020 by Rebellion.
It’s a logical fit for gameplay, as Zombie Army 4’s multiplayer mode enables up to four co-op players at once, although in third rather than first-person. The plot, on the other hand, tells a different story: Zombie Army 4 is set in an alternate reality in 1946, in which Adolf Hitler transformed the German army into zombies before casting them into Hellmouth. The undead, on the other hand, has returned and are driving the victorious allies out of Germany while causing havoc across Europe.
The good news for professional storytellers is that the entrance of Bill and pals does not appear to be causing too much disruption to that strange tale. The new characters join Abaddon Institution, the second objective in the Return to Hell campaign, in which players fight their way into the demonic asylum in order to face and defeat the evil Baron Umbra.
The Left 4 Dead gang has been in the Zombie Army series before: the original survivors, together with L4D2 crew Coach, Nick, Rochelle, and Ellis, were included in the first Zombie Army Trilogy in 2015.
In addition, the DLC contains a new WW1 costume, a WW2 Headgear set, the M1940 SMG, and Zombie Tank weapon skins. It comes with the Zombie Army 4 season pass, although it can also be purchased individually.
