Are you hungry yet? No? I’ll check back in once you’ve seen the new trailer for Soup Pot, a hunger-inducing virtual kitchen in which you can cook up whatever meal you like.
Chicken Club’s soup ’em up, first revealed in March, reappeared on last night’s Day of the Devs webcast with some significant news. Your virtual kitchen will expand with a variety of cooking gadgets, making it more than simply a hunger-inducingly tasty soup simulation. Fry, broil, and boil some absolutely delectable digital cuisine, then see how the world reacts to your culinary prowess.
It’s really ridiculous how excellent games are becoming at rendering food these days. After all, the roadside meals in Final Fantasy 15 were disturbingly attractive. The genuine culinarians, though, reside in the indie sphere, from Venba’s genuine South Asian dishes to Nour’s explosion of color, music, and ramen.
What I like best about Soup Pot is Chicken Club’s dedication to creating its meals as genuine as possible. The game includes 100 recipes that should (hopefully) transfer back into reality. Do you find yourself drooling over a particularly hot in-game meal? Soup Pot wants nothing more than for you to taste that dish, which is based on a variety of South Asian and Filipino cuisine.
You can even just cook your own creations, letting the wonderful 3D food renderings simmer into something altogether new—or charring a poor sausage to oblivion. Soup Pot, on the other hand, urges you to be inventive. There are no strict failure conditions, and you can plate and serve your meals any way you see proper.
But, most importantly, what is it that you are looking for? You don’t even have to do the dishes when you’re through.
