Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory singleplayer campaign revived by modders

Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory was one of the best multiplayer shooters of its time, with its distinctive class-based, objective-based gameplay. It followed the popularity of the singleplayer Return to Castle Wolfenstein, although it was only available in multiplayer mode—at least at the time. It had an incomplete single-player campaign that was cut during production and was long thought gone, but with the current rebirth of Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory by modders, one guy, William Faure, is bringing that dream back.

This comes on the heels of RealRTCW, a big mod effort that rebuilt Return to Castle Wolfenstein itself.

Faure is converting the six Enemy Territory maps into single-player and cooperative experiences. He’s also no stranger to modifying the game since he’s the creator of a large RealRTCW mod called The Dark Army: Uprising, an unauthorized sequel to the RTCW plot. Given the above clip, which displays not just a slice of the game from various maps but an extended look at gameplay on a D-Day level, it’s looking good.

More information may be found on the RealRTCW team’s Steam post. The mod’s progress may be tracked on its moddb page. Wolfenstein Enemy Territory Singleplayer will be available on November 19th, 2021, and will be available on Steam on November 30th, 2021.
